Children & Students Ministry Volunteer Application for Adult Volunteers

Dear Children’s Ministry Volunteer,
Thank you for your interest in serving in our Children’s Ministry. Working with children is both a privilege and a responsibility. When a parent brings their child to church, they entrust us with the most precious thing in their life. We want to honor that trust. Children are also very teachable. They have an innocent faith and look to us as examples. We want to make every effort to provide an atmosphere in which Godly influences are seen and Biblical standards upheld. We want to help them to know God better by our life and by our teaching.

As a first step in becoming part of our children’s ministry team, we require every volunteer to fill out a Volunteer Application form. This comprehensive form was prepared by the Children’s Ministry Team (CMT) in an effort to ensure the physical and emotional safety of the children to whom we minister. It may also provide a basis for clarifying the appropriate fit of each volunteer to the area in which he/she wishes to serve. Only one form needs to be completed regardless of your service in more than one area of children’s or student ministry. A very brief interview between department head and volunteer may follow. The interview will be limited in content to the questions that appear on the form and will be used for clarification purposes. The completion of the application process does not constitute a permanent commitment to any particular ministry.

In an ongoing effort to ensure the safety of the children at Lakes Free, we have developed a Child Safety Policy which all volunteers are required to read and agree to. Additionally, we procure a background check on all volunteers working with children and students.
